Developing homerow discipline and proper shift key technique
is crucial to achieving keyboard mastery. Only The Writer
with KeyAcademy and Technique Builder T keyboarding software
automatically tracks, monitors and reinforces proper hand
positioning throughout each lesson. Students cannot begin
their lessons, nor can they pass their lessons unless proper
hand position is maintained - KeyAcademy requires
it.
Learning proper shift-key technique is always
one of the most difficult aspects of keyboard instruction
to master. KeyAcademy's Shift Key Reinforcement System
requires students to use the proper shift key. The caps
lock key is disabled and only the proper shift
key works. Incorrect shifting counts only as an
error and the lesson will not progress.
Only when students are required to keyboard properly will
they form good habits. The Writer with KeyAcademy doesn't
suggest or ask for proper shift key, hand and finger
placement, it requires it. GOOD TECNIQUE
IS NOT OPTIONAL.
Lessons
Structured for Success
KeyAcademy features 116 sequential lessons; each designed
to build a homerow reference position, proper finger technique
and a reflex finger/key response. Instruction is completely
individualized. Students progress at their own rate depending
on the speed and accuracy benchmarks you choose and their
ability to maintain proper homerow hand positioning throughout
each lesson.
KeyAcademy leaves nothing to chance. Students do not pick
and choose among activities. KeyAcademy directs students through
116 skill building lessons and exercises. Wherever they left
off, that's where they'll begin the next day. After each lesson,
students see a lesson report; WPM, Accuracy and Technique
scores. If they pass each, they move on. If one benchmark
is not passed, that lesson must be retaken. Skill acquisition
is not left to chance.
Assessments
Assessment and reporting is central to instruction
and learning. The Writer with KeyAcademy features 16 60-second
assessment exercises. Each exercise is dated, scored and recorded.
Progress Reports- At any time, teachers
may receive a complete student or class keyboarding report. The
Writer automatically generates either of these two reports.
Each of which is quickly downloaded, via wireless infrared, to
a computer for printing. (A third class keyboarding
report can be retrieved by the teacher with a click of the mouse
using The Writer PowerHub and Communication Utility).
